The best way to prevent age and sun spots is to avoid over exposure to the sun and using a sunscreen all the time – even on those cloudy days. However, this will not get rid of the spots you already have.
Advances in laser technology can now treat irregular pigmentations such as sun and age spots while also improving fine facial lines. As we get older, red and brown spots often appear on our skin as a result of sun exposure and other factors. Fine lines and wrinkles are also caused by excessive sun exposure, smoking, hormonal changes and a loss of collagen.
To combat the effects of sun and aging in a gentle way, Intense Pulsed Light therapies, commonly referred to as IPL, is an option. IPL therapy targets any pigment issue within the skin drawing that pigment to the skin’s surface.
We are offering up to 33% off the regular price if you purchase an IPL packageHow does this happen? Light is attracted to excess red and brown pigment in the skin. The light in the laser is concentrated to target deep down into the skin’s dermis to treat these pigments. As the beam of light passes through the skin, it targets the darkened area while protecting the surface of the skin, leaving it unharmed. The darkened area then becomes heated from the light and altered.
Immediately following treatment, affected spots may start to darken. The surrounding area may have slight redness and swelling; this usually subsides within hours. Over the next few days, spots may be absorbed by the skin or flake off.
A series of treatments based on each individual’s skin type is needed to obtain the desired results. Brown spots may recur in time or after increased sun exposure and maintenance is recommended.
To complement laser treatments, microdermabrasion is recommended within 10-14 days to help exfoliate the flaking spots. Why? As we age, our skin’s ability to naturally exfoliate diminishes. By combining microdermabrasion with laser treatments, pigment and discoloration fades away and surface imperfections, such as fine lines begin to soften.
