It’s Time to Update!

We've been talking about having Wills and testamentary documents, but I want to remind everybody that things do change, and as your needs change, your documents need to change, too. So I know about 30 percent of our listeners already have a Will, and that's very good. Or they have a Living Trust. But, they wrote those Trusts or those Wills maybe when the kids were young, before they saw that the kids might be some discipline problems, or maybe that there's a drug problem, or maybe they wrote that Will before they knew the kids were ill. Or maybe they wrote that Will when their parents were still out earning their own money and now their parents need to have help with money.

I know a lot of our people who are listening wrote Wills before the 2001 Estate Tax change. And if they did that, they have huge consequences if they don't update their documents because they might be paying way too much tax. And some of our people have gotten married or they've gotten divorced and they need to redo their documents. So, the one thing I want to tell you is this: If you've got documents that have been around for a while, it's time to call your attorney.

Here's another thing I know. A lot of people out there have a very good relationship with an attorney, and they should call that person. They've counted on that person before and that person would love to talk to them and explain the changes. So I want you to remember, where there is a Will there's a way.
