Have a Purpose for the Paper
Paper is the #1 issue among most people that I work with. And many times we keep something “because I may want that, may need that, may decide to do that”. While these thoughts are great for planning ahead, it can drown you in paper. Have a purpose for the papers you keep. If you keep a coupon- save it with your grocery list and be sure it is something that you would buy. If you keep a magazine – set a time to read it or tear out the article you want to keep. If it is something that you need to keep for tax purposes, file it right away.
The biggest mistake people make with paper is to keep it “because I need it” without even looking at it. You may see that it is from your doctor so you assume it is a bill that you need to keep. But if you actually looked at it, it may just be the doctor announcing a new service and you don’t actually need to keep the paper. Read and review each thing that you decide to keep and know what you are going to do with it.
