Make a Note to Remember
I am not one of those people who believe that you can touch your papers only once. I do think that you should make decisions on the papers when you first receive them such as: trash, recycle, file, take action. But sometimes when you need to take action it can’t happen right away. Often, we forget what our plan of action was so the paper or project just sits there and begins to collect dust and precious space. Ideally, you should take action immediately, but if you can’t- make a note on the paper/file with a sticky note or actually write on the paper. Write what you need to do, what you may be waiting for, a follow up date, and the original date of the paper/file. This way, when you run across the paper again, you will remember why you kept it and the actions that need to be taken.
