Getting Rid of Things
Getting rid of things can be very hard to do. Often we have paid good money for the items or perhaps they have been given to us and the thought of giving them away is too difficult. Or you think that you will need an item later. But did you know that 80% of what we keep we never use, and that we spend at least 55 minutes every day looking for items we know we have but can’t find?
Try this simple trick to help you get rid of the clutter in your home or office:
If you can’t part with items or think you might need them later- box them up and mark the date on the outside of the box. Make a quick list of what is inside the box for easy reference. Put the box somewhere that you can easily access such as a garage shelf. Determine a check-in date, perhaps one year, and mark that on the box. On the check-in date, look at the box- if is still taped shut throw the entire box away without looking inside. If you have used some items take them out and re-box what you haven’t used and start over again.
