• There is a new airline, Virgin America, flying out of Seattle. The airline is privately-held and owned in part by Richard Branson. Virgin America has three daily non-stop flights between Seattle and San Francisco. Starting April 8, Virgin America will begin three daily non-stop flights between Seattle and Los Angeles. In addition to Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles, Virgin America also flies to Las Vegas, San Diego, New York, Washington, D.C. and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

• Emirates Airlines, one of the world’s most successful and fastest growing international airlines, will begin flying non-stop flights on the West Coast between Los Angeles and Dubai on September 1, 2008.

• Regarding changes in checked baggage allowance, United and US Airlines will begin charging $25.00 for a second checked bag for tickets purchased on or after February 4, 2008 for travel on or after May 5, 2008. This policy applies for travel with the 50 United States, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada. Other airlines will be changing their baggage allowance policies as well.
